Maintenance of Glass Fences
Here are some top tips on how to keep your glass fence looking great, whilst remaining secure.
Glass fencing is a beautiful, modern style of fencing that provides unobstructed views. It is a common choice among today’s home owners, and it is important to remember to take proper care of your glass fence if you want it to last.
Before you start cleaning the glass make sure to remove any stains or dirt build up in order to prevent scratching the glass. Once that is done, use warm soapy water to gently scrub. Hose down and leave to dry. Using a good quality squeegee or chamois is a great tool to remove drying water marks.
Using a vinegar-based glass cleaner is great after washing to keep the glass looking streak-free and clean. Some window cleaners will leave a film behind on glass, so ensure you are using a quality product in order to keep the unobstructed look.
On the stainless-steel fittings, use a soft sponge or microfibre cloth with warm soapy water, and then hose down with water. Avoid rough material that can leave scratches behind. Wiping the water droplets off with a chamois is great for a clean finish.
If your fence has any hinges, latches or locks they should be kept regularly sprayed with silicone or lubricating oil to keep it functioning smoothly and soundlessly. Don’t ever use a scourer or harsh cleaner as it can damage the integrity of some internal mechanisms as well as leave behind marks.
